Fire King Jadeite-Ever find in a thrift?

I have always wanted to collect Fire King Jadeite. I have never had the opportunity to find any at a reasonable price...they are very expensive!
I have seen them at antique stores and on eBay but never in a thrift store. I did however find the Fire King tulip mixing bowl for $3.99!
Has anyone ever found the Jadeite in a thrift store? and if so whats your story?

  1. I did so recently - four dessert plates for $20. I know that's pricey, but this is a thrift store run by a hospice and I don't mind paying that for a good cause. Antique stores around here would have charged more. I've never seen jadeite in goodwill-type thrifts.

  2. Oh, I am so jealous! I am always searching for a Fire King Tulip bowl, but the only ones I have seen are WAY beyond my price range. Congrats on your find!

    1. I found it in Savers, months back! I believe it is the smallest one. No fadding or anything! As soon as I saw it I gasped and couldn't believe my eyes!

  4. The only Fire King Jadeite I have ever found in a thrift store was the Jane Ray sugar bowl without the lid. They had it in their locked display case for $3.99. Not really sure why they had it priced so low and locked up. I have however purchased several pieces at flea markets and garage/estate sales. I can say I have never bought a piece of Jadeite from an antique mall. Way to overpriced for me!
